Friends of Amwell Valley Hounds (FoAVH)

The Friends of Amwell Valley Hounds [FoAVH], a 501c3, was created to provide with its mission being to preserve and enhance open space and the natural environment in the territory hunted by the Amwell Valley Hounds. There is an historic relationship between the sport of fox hunting and the conservation of open space. The Amwell Valley hounds have hunted the agricultural lands in New Jersey since 1962, and the FoAVH strive to provide educational programs and to pursue projects in support of the community.

FoAVH will sustain and enhance this unique agricultural land by ensuring good relations with its diverse community, including farmers and landowners, through welcoming newcomers, active communication, education and involvement in hunt and countryside maintenance activities. Specifically, this will include partnering with existing conservancy organizations, education about the history and traditions of foxhunting, hound breeding and land preservation conservation, stewardship and maintenance.

The Amwell Valley’s open space is very rare in New Jersey and is only made possible by the generous landowners and farmers who allow our group to ride through their land. Helping the farmers and landowners maintain trails only insures all of our ability to use this for our passion of riding.
